Further Education and Training Certificate: Tourist Guiding CATHSSETA accredited ID 71549/NQF4 Tourist Guides are often one of the first people to welcome tourists and the last to bid them farewell, therefore playing a pivotal role in enhancing visitors’ experiences and being an ambassador for South Africa as a tourist destination. Tourist Guiding is a very critical component of the tourism value chain. They play an essential role in ensuring repeat tourist visitation to South Africa by creating a positive image of our country. On completion of your course, you will be able to specialise in one of the following fields: Adventure Guides – rock climbing, paddling, abseiling, etc. Nature Guides – Game Reserves, National Parks, nature conservation areas, trails, etc. Cultural Guides – museums, communities, wine farms, town or city guiding. Foundation and legalities of Tourist Guiding The Art of Communication Creating the Best Customer Experience Budgeting and Problem Solving Tourism in South Africa Becoming a Nature / Culture / Adventure Guide GDS Systems Training First Aid Training Entry Requirements Minimum Grade 11 / NQF Level 3 –Maths / Maths Literacy and English Proficient in English language Duration & payment terms Tourist Guiding Excluding Cabin Crew Licencing 10 months Total cost: R30 000 (broken down as per below) Registration: R1 000 (due prior to course commencing) Deposit: R3 800 (payable on or before the course commences) Thereafter R2 800 x 9 months, with the first instalment due by the end of the commencing month Tourist Guiding Including Cabin Crew Licencing 12 months Total cost: R45 000 (broken down as per below) Registration: R1 000 (due prior to course commencing) Deposit: R3 300 (payable on or before the course commences) Thereafter R3 700 x 11 months, with the first instalment due by the end of the commencing month Find out more about this certificate by visting regqs.saqa.org.za.

Captain Paul Dore

External Training Manager
In an industry where hours matter, Paul Dore has more than put in his time. Over the years he has accumulated 18 000 accident-free hours of which 7 000 were on helicopters and 6 000 are as a flight instructor. Aside from experience, Paul has an innate instinct for flight and training that we have come to rely on at Alt. Pilot Training.
Paul has been involved in the Aviation industry since 1975. After starting in the military – a tough and thorough training ground – he progressed through Corporate Aviation industry to the Airlines. He has been actively involved with flying training since 1980 on both fixed wing aircraft and helicopters. He attained Designated Examiner status with the SACAA in 1992.

Captain Glen Warden

Manager of Commercial Operations
Captain Glen Warden, Manager of Commercial Operations, understands first-hand the demands of a career in aviation. In an industry that is high-octane and where the stakes are high, he brings a lifetime of experience, savvy and innovative solutions to the team at Alt. Pilot Training.
Glen has been in the industry for over 40 years, with over 30 years as advanced instructor both in the South African Air Force, and the civilian aviation sector. Having studied at Universities of Stellenbosch Business School, Newport (California), Dallas Fort Worth, he has wide commercial business experience in providing innovative, value-add training solutions.
